SSC CGL 60-Day Study Plan 2026: 8-Week Schedule with Mocks
Sixty days is enough to cover the full CGL syllabus once and still leave two weeks for mocks, if you start with average basics and study about 5 hours a day. The plan runs in four phases: arithmetic and verbal base, the advanced Quant blocks, topic tests with weak-area repair, and a mock-only finish.
Phases, daily budget and weekly rhythm
| Weeks | Phase | Focus |
|---|---|---|
| 1 to 2 | Base | Speed maths, arithmetic, verbal reasoning, grammar |
| 3 to 5 | Build | Data Interpretation, Geometry, Algebra, Trigonometry, non-verbal reasoning, vocabulary, RC, science |
| 6 | Repair | Topic tests, previous-year patterns, weak areas |
| 7 to 8 | Test | Full mocks, analysis, revision loops |
Daily budget (about 5 hours):
| Slot | Hours |
|---|---|
| Quant | 1.75 |
| Reasoning | 1.0 |
| English | 1.25 |
| General Awareness | 1.0 |
Weekly rhythm. Days 1 to 6 of each week are study days. Day 7 is the test day: a sectional test (weeks 1 to 4) or a full mock (weeks 5 to 8), then at least 90 minutes of analysis. Add 20 minutes every night to update the mistakes notebook, and read 5 new words a day from the vocab page. Working candidates can use the same sequence at 2.5 hours a day over 120 days.

Week 6: repair
Use mock 1 and mock 2 to build a ranked list of weak topics. Spend the week like this:
| Day | Plan (5 h) |
|---|---|
| 36 | Weak Quant topic 1: re-learn, 30 questions, timed set (1.75 h); weak Reasoning type (1 h); weak English area (1.25 h); GA (1 h) |
| 37 | Weak Quant topic 2, same pattern |
| 38 | Weak Quant topic 3, same pattern |
| 39 | Re-solve every wrong question from mocks 1 and 2 |
| 40 | Mixed timed sets: 25 Quant, 25 Reasoning questions in 15 minutes each |
| 41 | Mixed timed sets: 25 English and 25 GA questions in 15 minutes each, then formula sheet pass |
| 42 | Full mock 3, analysis |
Weeks 7 and 8: mocks and revision
No new topics. Mock days follow a fixed routine: attempt at your expected shift time (60 minutes), take a 20-minute break, then analyse for 2 hours. On non-mock days, revise.
| Day | Plan |
|---|---|
| 43 | Revise mock 3 mistakes, formula sheet, vocabulary |
| 44 | Full mock 4, analysis |
| 45 | Weak-area drills (2 h), current affairs of the last 3 months (1 h), static GK (1 h), grammar (1 h) |
| 46 | Full mock 5, analysis |
| 47 | Revise mistakes notebook, Quant formulas, idioms and one-word substitutions |
| 48 | Full mock 6, analysis |
| 49 | Rest half day, light revision |
| 50 | Full mock 7, analysis |
| 51 | Weak sections only, 15-minute timed sets |
| 52 | Full mock 8, analysis |
| 53 | Current affairs and static GK revision, grammar rules |
| 54 | Full mock 9, analysis |
| 55 | Formula sheet, mistakes notebook, vocabulary |
| 56 | Full mock 10, analysis |
| 57 to 58 | Light revision only: formula sheet, mistakes notebook, 25 mixed questions a day |
| 59 | Rest; check admit card, ID, centre route |
| 60 | Rest and sleep |
Ten mocks in 15 days is a heavy schedule. If you feel stale, drop one mock and use that day for analysis. Estimate how you stand using the score calculator and compare with the bands on the cutoffs page.
Adjusting the plan
- Weak basics in Quant: add a week at the start for NCERT-level maths, and shift everything by 7 days. A 90-day plan is a better fit in that case.
- Strong in Reasoning: reduce Reasoning to 30 minutes a day and add the time to English or Quant.
- Tier 1 already in progress or over: keep the arithmetic and verbal weeks, but switch the mock weeks to Tier 2 style (see the Tier 2 strategy guide).
- Typing: from week 5, add 15 minutes of keyboard practice on the typing test page. The data-entry speed test is qualifying and needs a few weeks of regular practice.
Frequently asked questions
Is 60 days enough for SSC CGL?
It is enough to cover the syllabus once and take about 8 to 10 mocks, if you can give around 5 hours a day and have average school-level basics. Candidates with weak basics should prefer the 90-day plan.
How many hours should I study per day on this plan?
About 5 hours: roughly 1.75 for Quant, 1 for Reasoning, 1.25 for English and 1 for General Awareness. If you have only 3 hours, extend the plan to around 100 days.
When should I take the first full mock?
At the end of week 4 on this plan, once you have covered most of arithmetic, DI and geometry. Sectional tests in weeks 1 to 3 build the habit of timed solving.
What should I do if I fall behind?
Drop the lowest-frequency topics (Mixture and Alligation, Dictionary Order, Medieval History) rather than the mock days. Mocks give feedback that no extra chapter does.
Can I follow this plan for Tier 2?
Weeks 1 to 6 work as a base for Tier 2 too. For Tier 2, shift more time to English (45 questions) and the harder Quant blocks, and take Tier 2 pattern mocks.
