1. Using this guide after the scheduled exam

The special-drive mains date of 29 October has passed. The notes and original worked checks remain useful revision, but this guide is not an announcement of a new exam or result. Check the matching /16 careers entry for subsequent instructions.

2. Read the four section timers

The handout lists 190 questions for 200 marks in 160 minutes. General/Financial Awareness has 50 questions, 50 marks and 35 minutes; General English has 40 questions, 40 marks and 35 minutes; Quantitative Aptitude has 50 questions, 50 marks and 45 minutes; Reasoning Ability & Computer Aptitude has 50 questions, 60 marks and 45 minutes. Each section has its own timer.

Wrong objective answers attract one-fourth of the marks assigned to that question; an unanswered question has no penalty. For the exact display, navigation and scoring instructions, read the current handout. Do not assume a reasoning question has the same assigned marks as a one-mark question in another section.

3. A suggested final-days routine

First complete one representative timed mock using the handout’s section durations. Review it in three passes: questions missed because of knowledge, questions misread, and time lost after a dead end. Retry a selected DI or reasoning set without the solution. Keep the next day for targeted repairs rather than another unreviewed full mock.

For awareness, recall a short, dated list of institutions, events and banking terms with notes closed. Use October current affairs as one input, not an exhaustive syllabus. In the final day, review your error log, sleep schedule, route and documents. This routine is a suggestion; there is no guaranteed good-attempt number or predicted cutoff here.

4. DI revision notes: denominator, base and units

Before calculation, write what each table entry measures and whether it is a count, rupee amount or percentage. A share uses the relevant total as denominator. A growth rate uses the earlier value. Percentage-point change is subtraction of rates; relative percentage change divides that difference by the earlier rate.

When two groups have different sizes, average the totals with weights rather than averaging their percentages. For successive percentage changes, multiply factors: +20% followed by −20% gives 1.2 × 0.8 = 0.96, a 4% net fall. Check whether rounding can change the option before using an estimate. The worked checks below use original data so you can test these distinctions.

5. Keep the two call letters and identity documents together

The official handout asks for the mains call letter with photograph affixed, the prelims call letter and ID copy authenticated by exam officials, and original photo ID with photocopy. It also gives separate scribe declaration and certificate conditions where applicable. Read your own call letter for the complete list and reporting instructions.

Open the matching special-drive entry on SBI careers for the candidate login and handout. If you applied under /17, this /16 document does not announce your own mains. For language requirements and the later stage, see the SBI Clerk preparation guide.

Try it before opening the answer

Original learning checks, not recalled exam questions or a prediction of your score.

1. A branch processed 240 applications in September and 300 in October. What was the percentage increase?

25%.

The increase is 60 on the earlier base of 240: 60/240 × 100 = 25.

2. Three branches processed 120, 180 and 300 applications. What share did the third branch process?

50%.

The relevant total is 600; 300/600 = 1/2.

3. A success rate rises from 40% to 50%. State the percentage-point rise and relative percentage rise.

10 percentage points; 25% relative increase.

Subtract rates for points. Divide the change by the earlier rate for relative growth: 10/40 × 100 = 25%.

4. Group A has 100 applications and an 80% approval rate. Group B has 300 and a 60% approval rate. What is the combined approval rate?

65%.

Approvals are 80 + 180 = 260 from 400 applications. A simple mean of 80% and 60% would incorrectly give 70%.

5. An amount rises 20% and then falls 20%. Is it unchanged?

No; it is 4% below the starting amount.

Use 100 as a starting value: 100 → 120 → 96. Equal opposite percentages use different bases.

6. A practice question is worth 1.2 marks. At a one-fourth wrong-answer penalty, what is the deduction?

0.3 mark.

Compute the fraction of the assigned mark: 1.2/4 = 0.3. Use the actual assigned marks, not a universal 0.25 deduction.
