SSC CPO 2025 Paper II: English revision after the PET/PST result
By ExamShortcut · Published 2 Nov 2026 · Checked 2 Nov 2026
SSC’s 29 October PET/PST result and 2 November schedule concern CPO Examination 2025, whose Paper II is scheduled for 28 November 2026. This guide provides an original English revision routine; it does not announce an admission-certificate release or predict questions.
1. Confirm that you are preparing for the 2025 Paper II
Read the result write-up and the applicable candidate list. Temporary-unfit, withheld and court-related cases have their own conditions; use your actual status rather than a headline count. The CPO 2026 CBE window of 23–28 November is separate. Check SSC and the regional office for the later admission certificate and individual reporting instructions.
2. Revise grammar through error categories
Keep a short log divided into subject–verb agreement, tense/aspect, pronoun reference, articles, prepositions and parallel structure. For every error, write the sentence, your answer, the corrected form and the rule that decides it. A correction without an explanation is harder to transfer to a new sentence.
Test the main subject before being distracted by a nearby plural noun: “The quality of the answers is improving.” Identify which part of a sentence actually controls the verb. After reviewing a category, close the note and solve a few mixed examples so the category is not revealed in advance.
3. Read for claims, evidence and limits
After each paragraph, state its role in a few words: background, main claim, example, objection or conclusion. Answer from the passage’s evidence. Distinguish “some” from “all”, possibility from certainty and the author’s claim from a quoted view.
For vocabulary, record an unfamiliar word with its meaning in context and a contrasting word. Retrieve yesterday’s list before adding new entries. Do not memorise a synonym without checking whether it fits the grammar and tone of the actual sentence.
4. A suggested revision cycle until 28 November
Alternate a timed English practice session with a deliberate review session. On review days, retry missed questions without seeing the solution, then inspect whether the mistake came from a rule, a word, a reading inference or rushing. Keep the final days for consolidation and document checks rather than adding a large new resource.
Use the current official paper rules when selecting the duration and marking of a mock. The worked checks below are original learning examples, not recalled SSC questions or a substitute for the syllabus. Return to the CPO result update for official schedule and source links.
Try it before opening the answer
Original learning checks, not recalled exam questions or a prediction of your score.
1. Choose the verb: “The quality of these answers is/are improving.”
is
The subject is the singular noun “quality”. The plural “answers” sits inside a prepositional phrase.
2. Correct the sentence: “She has been studying here since three years.”
She has been studying here for three years.
Use “for” with a duration. Use “since” with a starting point, such as “since 2023”.
3. Choose the parallel form: “The plan requires reading, revising and to practise/practising.”
practising
Keep the coordinated activities in the same grammatical form: reading, revising and practising.
4. A passage says some candidates preferred online practice. Does it establish that all candidates preferred it?
No.
“Some” does not support the stronger universal claim “all”. Keep the scope of your inference within the passage.
5. A writer describes a method as “plausible”. Does that mean it is proven?
No. It means reasonable or believable, not established as true.
The strength of the word matters. A plausible explanation can still require evidence.
6. Identify the clearer pronoun reference: “After Ravi spoke to Aman, he changed his plan.”
The sentence is ambiguous; name the person who changed the plan.
Both Ravi and Aman could be the referent of “he”. Replacing the pronoun with the intended name removes the ambiguity.
