RRB JE: final CBT 1 revision and a bridge to technical preparation

By ExamShortcut · Published 22 Oct 2026 · Checked 4 Nov 2026

The earlier 27–28 October general window has passed. RRB rescheduled the CBT 1 postponed through its 27 October notice to 2 November for concerned candidates only. Use the later revised-date update and your own document before relying on the earlier city-slip or e-call-letter listing.

1. Vacancy correction after the revised local exam date

The 4 November Corrigendum No. 2 raises the overall CEN 04/2026 vacancy total to 4,487. Read the changed JE/P. Way and JE/S&T/Signal rows for your RRB and community. The vacancy update is separate from a key or result announcement. Keep a small CBT 1 error log and continue your branch-subject preparation while checking later notices.

2. Later local rescheduling

The earlier 27–28 October general window has passed. RRB rescheduled the CBT 1 postponed through its 27 October notice to 2 November for concerned candidates only. Use the later revised-date update and your own document before relying on the earlier city-slip or e-call-letter listing.

3. Read city information and admission instructions separately

Use the city-intimation link reached from your board's official page. Match CEN 04/2026 and your application details. The city/date information helps travel planning; the e-call letter supplies the admission instructions and exact centre information.

The JE city-slip update links the official listing and candidate portal. Check the board's instructions for the download timing and identity requirements. Do not promise yourself a universal release time calculated from another candidate's date. If a detail is wrong or unavailable, use the official helpdesk rather than an unofficial paid download service.

4. Use the remaining study time for retrieval

Make three lists: formulas you can derive, facts you can retrieve and question types you still misread. Spend most revision time testing these lists with the notes closed. Reading the same highlighted page repeatedly can feel fluent without making recall reliable.

For maths, solve one question with units and one with a ratio or percentage base. In reasoning, explain the constraint that eliminated an option. In science, state the condition under which a law applies. Use a timed mixed block to check question selection, then review it before taking another. This is a suggested routine, not a forecast of topic weightage.

5. Keep the branch-subject bridge small and consistent

CBT 1 and the later technical stage have different roles. Check the current CEN for your exam group and technical syllabus. Do not assume all JE candidates answer the same engineering branch paper, or that preparation for NTPC covers technical abilities.

Reserve a modest block to revisit one branch concept, its units and a worked application. A mechanical candidate might audit force and power conventions; an electrical candidate might check circuit assumptions; a civil candidate might revisit a basic strength or surveying relation. These examples describe study choices, not a complete technical syllabus. The portal's shared aptitude notes do not replace a branch textbook.

6. Finish with a logistics rehearsal

Check the e-call letter, permitted original identification, reporting time and journey to the venue. Read the notice's biometric and identity instructions directly. Prepare only the permitted items and keep a clear printed copy where required.

After the paper, make a brief memory note of topics for your own review, without claiming it is the official paper. Wait for the matching official key to calculate a response-sheet raw score. For now, the JE syllabus and calendar are better planning anchors than a predicted cutoff from a tiny poll.

Try it before opening the answer

Original learning checks, not recalled exam questions or a prediction of your score.

1. A machine does 900 joules of work in 30 seconds. What is its average power?

30 watts.

Power = work ÷ time = 900/30 = 30 J/s. This is an original fundamentals check, not a branch-syllabus substitute.

2. Is a city-intimation slip enough to enter the JE exam?

Follow the e-call letter and official admission instructions.

City information supports planning. It does not replace the required admission document, identity proof or reporting conditions.

Common questions

Is the old 30 October CBT date still in the revised window?

The revised schedule used here is 27–28 October. Your official e-call letter is authoritative for your date and shift.

Do the shared maths notes cover all technical abilities?

No. Use the branch-specific technical syllabus and suitable engineering material alongside shared aptitude practice.
