SBI PO 2026 eligibility โ age limit, qualification, relaxation
This page collects who can apply for SBI PO (SBI PO (Probationary Officer), State Bank of India), conducted by State Bank of India (SBI): the age limit for each group of posts, the educational qualification, nationality rules and the age relaxation for each category. It is built from the same verified data as the SBI PO guide, which also carries the 2026 cycle status and dates.

Age eligibility calculator
Enter your date of birth and category to see, for each post group in SBI PO, whether you are inside the age limit and the exact birth-date window that qualifies. Everything runs in your browser; nothing is stored or sent.
The cut-off date is pre-filled from this page's data: 1 April 2026. If the official notification gives a different date, type it above, and read the notes on this page to see whether this date belongs to the current or the previous cycle.
| Post group | Age limit | Born between |
|---|---|---|
| Probationary Officer | 21โ30 yrs | 2 April 1996 to 1 April 2005 |
The window is: born on or after (cut-off date minus upper limit minus relaxation, plus one day) and on or before (cut-off date minus minimum age). It matches the "born between" ranges printed in the exam data where they are given.
Not calculated here (these depend on individual circumstances; check the table below and the official notification): PwBD (UR/EWS / OBC / SC-ST) โ +10 / +13 / +15 years; Ex-servicemen and commissioned officers (including ECOs/SSCOs with 5 years of military service, per the notice conditions) โ +5 years.
Age eligibility is only one condition. Check education, nationality and any physical or post-specific requirements too. The official notification overrides this tool.

Important notes on eligibility
Age relaxations are not cumulative across categories. Category chosen at registration is final; no change is allowed at any stage. OBC candidates need a non-creamy-layer certificate issued on or after 1 April 2026; EWS candidates need an Income & Asset certificate for FY 2025-26 valid for 2026-27. There is a limit on the number of chances: 6 for UR/EWS, 9 for OBC (and PwBD UR/EWS/OBC), no restriction for SC/ST, and appearing in the Mains consumes a chance. Candidates with loan defaults or adverse CIBIL records must regularise dues before joining, or the offer can be withdrawn. Selected candidates sign a service bond of โน2 lakh for a minimum of 3 years and serve a 2-year probation with continuous assessment.
How to read these eligibility rules
The cut-off date decides your age. Your age is not measured on the day you apply or the day of the exam. It is measured on one fixed date written in the notification (1 April 2026 in the data used for this page).
Relaxation is added to the upper limit only. A category relaxation raises the maximum age, not the minimum. The calculator adds the number of years for the category you pick and shows the resulting birth-date window per post group.
Your date of birth is taken from your certificate. Age is checked against the date of birth on your Class 10 / matriculation certificate, so use that date rather than the one on any other document.
Education is checked separately. Meeting the age limit does not make you eligible on its own. Check the qualification table above for your post, including any row about final-year students or candidates who are still waiting for a result.
The notification always wins. Where the official notification differs from this page, follow the notification.
Documents that prove age and qualification
Keep these ready for the application and for document verification at the interview stage: Class 10 certificate (date of birth proof), graduation marksheets and degree or provisional certificate (final-year candidates must bring passing proof by the notified date), category certificate in the Government of India format: OBC (non-creamy layer, issued on or after 1 April 2026 for the 2026-27 cycle), EWS Income & Asset certificate for FY 2025-26 valid for 2026-27, or SC/ST certificate, PwBD certificate where applicable, ex-servicemen or NOC documents if relevant, a photo ID (Aadhaar, PAN, passport, driving licence, voter ID or equivalent), the call letters (the authenticated Prelims call letter must be carried to the Mains), and multiple copies of the same passport photograph uploaded at registration (the notice advises keeping about 8 copies). At application time you also need a scanned photograph (20-50 kb), signature (10-20 kb, not in capitals), left-hand thumb impression and a hand-written declaration in the prescribed sizes, plus a live photo capture. Name and date of birth must match everywhere; biometric (thumb/iris) verification is done at various stages, so avoid mehndi, ink or chemicals on your hands.
